About
I quickly became dissatisfied with the trajectories of extant research on the role of violence in the Mycenaean world. So to help me conceptualise and explain how violence is used as a force of social cohesion, integration and legitimation, I built a model for the rise of the Shaft Graves in MH III-LH I Mycenae from the negotiations made by crack selling gang members in south-central Chicago. Being a low level, explicitly political group that must work to create and maintain legitimacy, and for which violence is an acceptable method of social intercourse, gangs are a great comparison.
